You may have seen the Channel 4 expose about the Quantock Staghounds and are wondering what you can do to help?

For too long the stag hunts have literally been getting away with murder, using loopholes within the Hunting Act 2004 to continue their persecution of wildlife in the South West. Stags and hinds are chased for hours on end over difficult terrain for the sole purpose of becoming a trophy for the hunters. There is no proof or evidence to back up their argument of research and conservation and if they claim the culling of a sick animal then why do they force them to endure an agonising chase before cutting up their body and distributed the parts?

There are no records of research being conducted by the hunt, the only research published was in 1997 by Professor Bateman who was commissioned by the National Trust to study the effects hunting has on deer. It was concluded that the mental and physical trauma they suffer is horrific, resulting in the National Trust banning stag hunting on their land.

As you will have seen it is not only the wildlife that suffer at the hands of the hunt, but the hounds and horses too. Despite what is best for these animals the hunt will use them to satiate their blood lust, no matter what the consequences are. The animals they force to participate in their sickening rituals are all victims and merely seen as replacable stock!

The tide is turning for this archaic blood sport and you can be a part of the change. We have provided a template email/letter below that you can send to your local MP and councillors to make them aware of what is happening and asking them to take a stand against stag hunting. We have also provided you with a link below to find out who your local MP is.

There needs to be a change in the law to keep the animals that the hunt abuse safe. This will be a group effort and it will take MPs from all over the country to oppose this animal abuse.
