What is action against staghunting all about?

our aimS:

To end all stag hunts forever.
To support locals who are affected negatively by stag hunting.
To ensure that changes to the Hunting Act include stag hunting.
To expose the brutality of staghunting to everyone.
To challenge the stag hunts legally, morally and directly.

Stag hunting is one of the oldest forms of animal abuse.

Henry VIII would have no problem  recognising and joining in with the activities of the stag hunts in Devon and Somerset today. It hasn’t changed much. The stag (or hind) is chased for hours by dogs, and then he’s killed, carved up and taken away in bits to be eaten or displayed as a trophy. It is unimaginably cruel.

Henry might be a bit surprised to see just two dogs chasing the animal.  That is the only difference the Hunting Act made to stag hunting – the hunts aren’t allowed to use a full pack, but there is a loophole that allows them to use two hounds… and carry on as usual.

Henry would probably be happy to see that the rest of the dog pack is replaced by blood-thirsty human beings, with radios, pointing fingers and excited hollering.  These people have no mercy, and no humanity. What’s fun for them is death and pain for the stag.

Of course, we can’t just sit back and let it happen, so we  created Action Against Staghunting (AAS).

Our group is made up from members of Action Against Foxhunting, a significant number of saboteur and monitor groups, and any members of the public who object to hunting (and that’s most of them). We are a campaign group with the aim of finishing the stag hunts forever.

Action against staghunting actions

help for Locals and tourists

Locals are key to helping the stags. We can also help locals who are badly affected by the stag hunts. Please send us an enquiry and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Also – there is also a community Facebook page –  Locals Against Staghunting on Facebook. Please follow the page and keep up to date.

Locals need to watch out for the stag hunts and report them to us.

Police and landowners may also need to know.
Click here to find out how to report the hunts to police and landowners

Tourists can also help.

Use the reporting form above, and follow the Facebook page.

Because the hunts are so blatant, everyone assumes they are hunting legitimately on land where they have permission. Nothing could be further from the truth. They are often trespassing and breaking the law.

If you want to join us in AAS, please fill in a Volunteer Enquiry.

AAS is a not-for-profit organisation. We campaign online, on Social Media and in person. We have very high standards of behaviour and integrity. We have a constitution, policies and rules.
